4th Wall App
4th Wall app invites you to walk and teleport through:
- Nancy Baker Cahill’s LA studio in 360 degrees
- Four of her original Virtual Reality drawings translated into Augmented Reality
- A hologram of Baker Cahill discussing her work.
IMPORTANT: when you download 4th Wall, a pop-up window will appear asking for permission to access your camera and microphone. Press "Allow" and all videos and pictures will be stored in your photo folder. You can also change this in your settings if you forget to do so after downloading.
Viewers hold up their phones. Tapping on one of the four AR drawings, the studio, or the artist button, viewers will be prompted to scan your environment to place scene. Within seconds, the AR experience will appear wherever the viewer has aimed their phone camera.
Camera and video buttons allow viewers to shoot photos and record the AR experiences in any context, anywhere in the world. Photos and videos are automatically stored in viewers’ iPhoto collections. Viewers are encouraged to share across social media platforms using the hashtags: #4thwallapp #nancybakercahill and any #AR iteration they choose.
Pro tip: the more space you have to walk through, the better in placing these works (especially if you want to walk through and around them— but of course you can always teleport!).
To teleport into and through the AR drawings, studio, or hologram environment, place finger on floor or where you want to teleport until starburst icon appears, then tap icon. Viewers can also walk through every AR experience offered. To experience the hologram, tap “the artist” button and scan your environment.
To mute hologram, turn off phone’s sound button or tap the “home” icon in the bottom right corner. If you cannot hear hologram sound, turn phone’s sound button on.
